More strikes across Iran at unpaid wages and financial incompetence

NCRI – Iran has been hit by a fresh spate of strikes by workers protesting at unpaid wages, mismanagement and negligence by employers across the regime.

At the Haft Tapeh Cane factory in Ahvaz, more than 500 staff went on strike from July 29, demanding an end to the atmosphere of oppression that has reigned in the factory since the last strike of 2007, and in anger at handing the site’s residential units to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

In the city of Boroujen, more than 100 retired workers gathered outside the Social Security Organization building on July 28 protesting that their delayed wages had still not been paid up to six months after their retirement

The protest continued until late at night where the workers vowed to continue their demonstration until their wages are paid.

In southern Iran, a state-run website reported on July 31 that physicians, nurses and employees of hospitals in the city of Bushehr had also gone on strike in protest at their delayed wages and bonuses.

Nurses and other employees at the Persian Gulf Hospital resigned two months ago in protest at unpaid wages and housing and clothing bonuses, and financial management by dean of the Medical Science University. Doctors at the same hospital which has one of the highest profits in the country – also protested at being paid no salary for 18 months.
