Latest Iranian factory in wage crisis

NCRI – Workers at Iran’s largest home appliances factory have not been paid for nine months in the latest sign of the regime’s crumbling economy.

The 100 staff at Azmayesh Factory in East Tehran blamed the crisis on soaring inflation creating a huge slump in demand and mismanagement of company shares.

Ali Akbar Aivazi, a member of Workers’ House semi-official trade union, said: “Since the production of this unit has fallen to a minimum in the past year, there is no way to pay the workers’ salaries.”

“Fifty percent of this factory’s problems relate to economic problems as a result of inflation, and the rest is due to the mismanagement of the company shares.

“This factory used to have 1100 active workers active in previous years, but there are only 100 left.”

Many of the workers had 20 years experience and risked losing their jobs, Mr Aivazi told the INLA news agency.
