Iran: Manyworkers unpaid in Qazvin province

NCRI – Many workers in the Iranian state of Qazvin have gone unpaid for up to three years as companies struggle to stay afloat.

Until recently Qazvin had more than 3,200 production units but now around half are closed and the remainder are working below capacity, according to official reports.

Many workers at these companies have not been paid from between three and 30 months, or are in a situation of precarious employment, reports said.

In the city of Mashhad, more than 300 workers at the Jahad-e Nasr construction and engineering company have not been paid for 10 months.

One worker said: “This company could easily pay its workers by selling its property. But it seems that the employer has no intention of paying the workers their delayed wages.”

There is also a five months delay in paying workers at the Rahnama Industrial packaging company in the city of Neishabour, due to lack of liquidity and low orders. Last year there were 25 workers at the company, but now only remain, reports said.
