NCRI – In the midst of rising infighting among the Iranian regime’s factions, reports have surfaced that the faction tied to the mullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has gained control over a large car manufacturer under the guise of “privatization plans.”

According to the state-run Jahan News on Tuesday that the management of Saipa car manufacturing company has undergone significant changes, with Ahmadinejad’s close allies sitting at the helm of the company, which has an annual cash flow of over 12 billion dollars.

The report said the son of Ahmadinejad’s chief of staff, Rahim Mashai, has been appointed as the director of Saipa’s investment arm, while Mashai’s nephew has become the manager of the company’s soccer team. A close relative of a senior-ranking member of the Majlis (Parliament) has also become the deputy chair of the planning office of Saipa.

The report said that In accordance with a one year-old plan, the management team at Saipa dismissed the previous managers.

Recently, Jahan News added, the son of a Majlis member, who previously worked as a trader, was appointed as the parliamentary advisor to the Saipa CEO.

The report compared the control over Saipa to the massive plunders at the Azad University and said, “Now, the Saipa Car Manufacturing Group, which has an annual cash flow of 12 billion dollars, has come under close allies of the current CEO, has turned into a place where [the board of directors] pick out candidates among themselves, vote among themselves and take senior jobs.”
