Zafir al-Ani asked for representative from the UNSC, to investigate what happened at Camp Ashraf

Press Release
Dr. Zafir al-Ani, Secretary General of National Future Assembly (Iraq) – April 19, 2011

Emphasizing the necessity of immediate withdrawal of all armed forces from Ashraf, we support the initiative for an independent and transparent investigation by an international fact finding committee, with presence of a representative from the United Nations Security Council, to investigate what happened at Camp Ashraf on April 8th.

The results of reliable international investigations regarding the entire human cost that occurred during the heinous attack of April 8 against Camp Ashraf, which belongs to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran who opposes the clerical rulers in Tehran, it truly hurts all the patriotic Iraqi forces who always eye the highest national interests far from suspicious plans and designs of foreign countries. This equally hurts all the peace-loving governments and personalities throughout the world.

The condemnations by Ms. Navi Pillay, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, issued subsequent to their investigations at the scene, negates and wipes out all the contradictory statements and cover-ups by the Iraqi officials.

While we emphasize the necessity of halting all the military actions and plans, and withdrawal of all armed units from Ashraf, we support the initiative for an independent and transparent investigation by an international fact finding committee, with presence of a representative from the United Nations Security Council, to investigate what happened at Camp Ashraf on April 8th.
