We support international protection of Ashraf: Iraqi MP

NCRI – A member of the Iraqi Parliament and the Iraqiya list has said he would support any international attempt about ending the suffering of Camp Ashraf residents, according to Malaf news agency.

Reacting to the huge rally of Iranian exiles outside Paris on Saturday, Meysoun al-Damlouji said, “We welcome any international or domestic attempts to protect the residents of Ashraf and to end their pain and suffering.”

He added, “Placing the dire humanitarian situation in Camp Ashraf on the spotlight is positive.”

“The residents of the camp are officially considered refugees in Iraq and that is why we view them as protected by international law,” he said.

Mr. al-Damlouji called on the United Nations to “provide for the basic humanitarian necessities such as food and medicine” for the residents of Ashraf.

On Saturday, about 100,000 supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) gathered together in Paris and demanded international protection for Camp Ashraf. They heard prominent personalities speak, including Rudy Giuliani, the former Mayor of New York.
