“Putting restrictions on Ashraf in Iraq is work of Iranian regime”

NCRI – A member of an Arab committee supporting Camp Ashraf, Iraq, where 3,400 Iranian dissidents reside, said on Wednesday that pressures and restrictions imposed on the camp are instigated by the Iranian regime.

Mehdi al-Atyat of the Arab Delegation in Defense of Ashraf added that the Iranian regime “meddles in Iraqi internal affairs when it comes to issues surrounding Ashraf residents.”

“All of the pressures and restrictions imposed on Ashraf residents emanate only from the Iranian regime because the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran is the opposition to the regime,” al-Atyat added, referring to the main opposition PMOI.

“Ashraf residents in Iraq have the legal status of protected persons under international law and in accordance with Article 42 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. This convention protects their rights,” al -Atyat told Babelyiah TV.
