Polish MEP expresses concern over Iranian opposition members in Camp Ashraf in Iraq

Mr. Ryszard Czarnecki, Polish Euro MP NCRI – Mr. Ryszard Czarnecki, Polish Euro MP expressed concern over the situation of human rights in Iran and especially member of Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Camp Ashraf, Iraq.

Mr. Ryszard Czarnecki, speaking on October 22 before voting on the EP resolution on the human rights situation in Iran, called on Iraq to implement the European Parliament resolution of April 24, 2009 on Camp Ashraf.

Transcription of his remarks before the plenary session follow:

I would like to use this time to express our concern over the situation in Iran and especially Iranian opposition members in Camp Ashraf in Iraq which has been the symbol of resistance for people in Iran.

The Iraqi government should stop following the orders of mullahs in Tehran.  Iraq should understand that the Iranian regime has no future and is holding to power by repression and execution.

So if Iraq is a sovereign country they should respect and implement the European Parliament resolution of April 24, 2009 on Camp Ashraf which calls on Iraq to stop the enforced displacement of Ashraf residents within Iraq.

The mullahs want Ashraf destroyed and we in Europe must support these defenseless Iranian refugees. It is our moral duty.

Mr President, I hope that we ask the EU presidency and the commission to ask the UN to become more involved by sending a permanent team and even a peace keeping force there to prevent more attacks and prevent moving these people by force to other parts in Iraq.
