MEP calls for release of seven Camp Ashraf hostages in Iraq

NCRI – A member of the European Parliament has condemned the massacre of 52 Iranian dissidents in Camp Ashraf on September 1 and called for the release of seven hostages taken captive during the atrocity.

Jean-Jacob Bicep, a member of Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Human Rights, said: “I would like to declare my support and strongly condemn what has happened to the Iranian dissidents in Camp Ashraf. They have become victims of the Iraqi Army and by sacrificing their lives they have paid the price of their struggle for freedom and against the tyrannical regime ruling in Iran.

“Like the whole international community that have condemned the attack on Camp Ashraf, I also would like to repeat my condemnation of what happened to all those refugees, which were under international supervision and protected by various international conventions.

“I also would like to particularly support the seven hostages that were detained during the operation and who are now on hunger strike.

“Across the world Iranians also are on hunger strike to free those hostages. I support them and I tell them to continue their struggle because it is a just struggle.”

Mr Bicep added: “The international community should not be indifferent to this issue. I would do anything in my capacity to take your issue to the European Union and the institutions that I attend.”
