Kobler turns a blind eye to murder and torture in Iraq, protesters allege

NCRI – Martin Kobler, the United Nations deeply discredited envoy to Iraq – has colluded with the Iraqi government, and failed in his mission and must be sacked, protesters said on Friday.

Saeed al-Lafi, spokesman for the demonstrators in Iraq’s Al-Anbar Province, said: “The UN envoy to Iraq, Martin Kobler, is not honest in his engagement with the current events in Iraq.

“We were hoping he would properly represent his impartial organization, but he has stood silently by in the face executions and torture in prisons. ”

He told the Almasalah website: “We urge the UN to replace its envoy in Iraq for taking sides with the government. His failure to react to execution and torture inside government’s prisons is the best indication that Kobler’s mission in Iraq is a failure.”

Last Monday marked the 100th day since the anti-Maliki protests began in six provinces across Iraq.
