“The 36 Iranian residents of Ashraf who have been held by the Iraqi government must be freed immediately especially because there is a court order on their release. Their arrests or imprisonments are against the law and in contravention with the Forth Geneva Convention,” he said.

“Something must be done regionally and internationally to end the inhuman treatment of Ashraf residents. Camp Ashraf residents are hunger strike. They are prevented from receiving humanitarian aid. This is a violation of human rights…This is a humanitarian and legal issue,” he added.

Mr. al-Kharabsheh described the attack on Camp Ashraf by Iraqi forces as an illegal act against civilians.
