Iraq’s Christian Democrats condemn medical siege on Ashraf

NCRI – The Christian Democratic Movement of Iraq has said that Camp Ashraf residents are subjected to numerous restrictions and an unjust blockade which includes a ban on medical treatment under a committee directly supervised by the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

“On the orders of Dr. Omar Khalid al-Tamimi, who is tied to the committee in charge of Ashraf’s suppression, medicine purchased by Ashraf residents has not been allowed to be taken into the camp this month and was stopped at the gate.

“The condition of many patients in Ashraf, who required the medicine, has deteriorated,” the movement said.

It added that the Iraqi government must guarantee the free access of Ashraf residents to medical treatment, end the siege on the camp and respect the rights of the residents.

Camp Ashraf, Iraq, is home to 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
