The Jordanian al-Arab al-Yum Daily reported on July 10 that in a press release, Somayra al-Shebeli, the press advisor of the Governor of the Iraqi province of Dyala called for supporting the European plan which stresses dealing with Ashraf residents as refugees and in accordance with the articles of the Fourth Geneva Convention and emphasized support for this plan with the condition that it not violate the articles of Geneva Conventions.
Al-Shebeli described the European Parliament’s solution as the best solution that brings an end to the residents’ continuous human sufferings and emphasizes the necessity of supporting them, as most of them are women and elderly people and have had a presence on the Iraqi soil for many decades, al-Arab al-Yum Daily wrote.
Governor of Dyala’s press advisor said that the Governor has emphasized in a number of press statements the necessity of dealing with Ashraf residents humanely and in accordance with the traditions and international covenants. Al-Shebeli called for creating a comprehensive solution for the issue of Ashraf residents through participation of Iraq and the international community, a solution that is consented by and agreed upon by the refugees, and that in this issue, all human aspects without political pressures are implemented.
