Iraqi tribal council congratulates PMOI on US court victory, urges Ashraf protection by US forces

NCRI – The Secretary General of Southern Iraq Arab Tribes Council congratulated the Iranian opposition, People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), on its recent legal victory at a US appellate court and emphasized his absolute support for the rights of PMOI members residing in Camp Ashraf, near Baghdad.

On July 16, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ordered the Secretary of State to review the PMOI’s terror tag and to give it the opportunity to rebut the allegations made against it.

In a statement on Tuesday, Sheikh Ahmad al-Ghaem of the southern tribes council congratulated the rejection of the PMOI’s terror label by the American court, while strongly condemning the fabricated rulings and allegations against the residents of Ashraf by the Iranian regime’s intelligence services and its terrorist Qods Force, along with the caretaker government of Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq.

The tribal council said the siege against Ashraf must also be lifted, and added that the American forces in Iraq bear full responsibility for the protection of Ashraf residents on the basis of the commitments they have made in this regard.
