NCRI – In a letter to the commander of Multi-National Force-Iraq, General Raymond Odierno, the Iraqi National Dialogue Council of Diyala demanded intervention to lift the restrictions and siege on Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

Camp Ashraf, which is located north of Baghdad in the province of Diyala, is home to about 3,500 members of the main Iranian opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), 1,000 of whom are women.

The National Dialogue Council of Diyala also conveyed its worries to Gen. Odierno about the imposition of pressures by Iraqi forces on the Iranian opposition. It added that the mounting strains on Camp Ashraf residents are a serious cause for concern.

In its letter, the council described any form of forced displacement of Ashraf residents from their current location as a violation of international law, and demanded the adoption of necessary measures to lift restrictions and end the siege on Ashraf.
