Iraqi MP says Ashraf case to be brought to Parliament

NCRI – A member of the Iraqi Parliament from the al-Iraqiya bloc has said, “The issue of Ashraf, the rights violations and the matter concerning detention centers will be discussed in the Iraqi Parliament.”

Dr. Nadi Ebrahim was referring to Camp Ashraf, home to 3,400 members of the main opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

He told the Iraqi news agency in Cairo, “The restrictions and the siege on Ashraf will not be solved unless the Iraqi people’s general problems, including an end to violations of the law, are resolved. Therefore, we can bring forward that issue in Parliament. We will also commence debate on rights violations in detention centers and other areas where the rights, property, security and dignity of the residents are being violated.”

Dr. Ebrahim added, “We, in al-Iraqiya, have a national agenda to encourage real participation in government and ending sectarian and ethnic tensions. We also have a plan for Iraq’s reconstruction and state organs. Those who oppose these plans have to answer to the public and history.”

“We are determined to participate in the political process and to create institutions without purging others.”
