Iraqi Lawmaker condemns abduction of Iranian dissidents in Iraq

NCRI – The Iraqi lawmaker Liqaa al-Wardi strongly condemned the abduction of seven Camp Ashraf by Iraqi forces on September 1.

Liqaa al-Wardi is a member of the Al-Iraqia coalition, which won the last parliamentary elections in Iraq, but Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki refused to give up power. 

“The abduction of Iranian dissidents is unacceptable and constitutes a serious violation of human rights,” she said.
She called for the immediate release of the hostages , insisting that “the residents of Ashraf were protected by international refugee conventions .”

Many Iraqi parliamentarians have condemned the attack on September 1 against members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Ashraf.

Ala Talabani , a member of the Kurdish coalition in the Parliament and a member of the Iraqi Parliament ‘s Human Rights commission called for “protection of the rights and safety of Iranian dissidents in Iraq.”

She warned against the handover of seven Camp Ashraf hostages to Iran where their life will be in danger.
