Iraq must protect Camp Liberty residents, MP demands

NCRI – Iraq must protect Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty in the wake of the deadly February 9 missile attack that left eight dead and more than 100 injured, an Iraqi MP has demanded.

Borhan Mohammad, a member of the Kurdish Coalition, told the al-Hadath news agency: “The members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) are considered refugees according to international law based on the Fourth Geneva Convention, therefore we must respect them.

“The Government of Iraq must respect all international conventions in treating the PMOI and protect them against any future attacks. Must provide for their humanitarian needs and respect their human rights as mentioned in all international covenants.”
