Iranian opposition protest in The Hague: Free 7 Camp Ashraf hostages in Iraq

NCRI – Iranians living in the Netherlands held a protest in The Hague demanding release of the seven Camp Ashraf residents taken hostage by Iraqi forces.

Iraqi forces of Nouri al-Maliki attacked Camp Ashraf on September 1 and massacred 52 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and abducted seven residents as hostage including six women.

The protesters criticized the lack of action by the international community particularly the United Nations and the U.S. Government that had made commitments to protect the Iranian dissidents in Iraq.

The participants that included members of families of those executed in Camp Ashraf demanded the deployment of the United Nations’ Blue Helmets in Camp Liberty to prevent future attacks.

The protesters expressed their support for hundreds of Iranian dissidents who are on hunger strike in Camp Liberty and six other countries as a part of international campaign to free the seven Camp Ashraf hostages.

The hunger strike in Camp Liberty is on its 46th day. Many hunger strikers have lost 10 kilograms and are facing critical health issues such as severe reduction of eyesight and hearing, digestive abnormalities and insomnia.

Simultaneous with protest in Camp Liberty similar hunger strikes are held in Berlin, Geneva, Ottawa and Melbourne.
