Iranian Mojahedin in France call for the protection of Camp Ashraf

Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), dressed in bright yellow, turned out at an exhibition hall along with dozens of politicians like former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and Spanish MEP Alejo Vidal Quadras, on Saturday.

This year, the annual gathering placed a special emphasis on the events of Camp Ashraf in April.

On April 8, 28 people were killed and 300 were wounded when the Iraqi army tried to dismantle the camp.

The PMOI’s leader, Maryam Rajavi, called for the installation of UN observers at the camp and said she wants the United States and the European Union to guarantee the protection of the residents.

The camp currently has about 3,400 people, and its security is in the hands of Iraqi authorities.

The opposition believes that the repression of the camp is meant to appease Tehran, which maintains amicable relations with the Iraqi government.
