Iran: Political prisoners condemn the attack on Camp Liberty

A group of political prisoners in Gohar Dasht prison near Tehran condemned the latest terrorist attack against members of Iranian opposition movement, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Camp Liberty (Iraq) and expresses their outrage of the silence of international bodies.

The statement said: “The silence of international bodies on previous crimes against the residents of camps Ashraf and Liberty was seen as a green light by the Iraqi government of Nouri Maliki. The attack on December 26 against Camp Liberty left three dead and many wounded among the defenseless residents, while the United Nations and the United States had made commitments to protect them.

“This crime comes as the perpetuators of the September 1 massacre in Ashraf have not been and no action has been taken by the UN and the U.S. to investigate this crime against humanity.

“We, a group of political prisoners in Gohardasht prison strongly condemn this terrorist crime and urge the international community particularly the U.S. government and the United Nations not to close their eyes to these savage crimes and their commitment to the protection of the inhabitants of Liberty .”

The signatories included: Afshin Heiratiane , Chahrokh Zamani , Khaled Hardani, Saleh Kohandel , Misagh Yazdan-nejad Mohammad Banazadeh- Amirkhizi, Mohammad Ali Mansouri and Nasseh Yousefi.”
