Iran-Iraq: Downing Street rally in defense of abducted PMOI members in Iraq

Iranian Rally in front of Downing StreetIranian-British communities and supporters of the Iranian Resistance held a rally in front of Downing Street on August 25 to call on the British government to intervene to secure the release of two PMOI members abducted in Baghdad on August 4.

In his address to the rally, former Labor Party member of the British Parliament, Kerry Pollard, condemned the terrorist abduction of Messrs Hossein Pouyan and Mohammad-Ali Zahedi by agents of the Iranian regime operating in Iraq and called on the British government and the international community to act immediately to save their lives.

Mr. Pollard reiterated his support to the Iranian Resistance and wished freedom and democracy to prevail in Iran soon ending the threat of fundamentalism to the region and the world.

At the end of the gathering a letter addressed to the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, was delivered to 10 Downing Street by a delegation representing the participants of the rally. The letter in part called on the British PM to support measures to save the lives of two victims of abduction in Iraq and stressed that according to reliable information agents of the Iranian regime have been involved in this incident and the abductees face mistreatment, torture and possible execution if they should be transferred to Iran.

Organizations sponsoring the rally included Iranian-British Associations of Physicians, Youth, Religious Minorities, Women and Experts and Iranian-British Community of Greater London.
