Iran: Ex-Tehran Univ. chancellor outraged by massacre of MEK members at Camp Ashraf

NCRI – Tehran University’s first chancellor after the 1979 revolution, Dr Mohammed Maleki, has spoken of his outrage at the massacre of 52 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) at Camp Ashraf, which he blamed on the mullahs ruling Iran.

The well-known former political prisoner said in an article: “On the morning of September 1, I saw tragic scenes of the slaughter of my compatriots who had been forced to seek refuge.”

Dr. Maliki said that the videos of 1,400 Syrian killed by Assad’s chemical attack and finally the scenes of massacre at Camp Ashraf “raised such fire inside me that I felt ashamed to call myself ‘human’.”

“Articles in newspapers and websites affiliated with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the Basij Force, and statements made by commanders of IRGC such as Qasem Soleimani, General Naghdi made it apparent that Iran was directly or indirectly involved in the unprecedented massacre of Ashraf.

“I express my repugnance and hatred of these atrocious acts and believe in the certain victory of people of Syria and Iran and the infamy and wretchedness of tyrants.

“My message to my compatriots is that from whatever ethnicity, tribe or belief, do not keep silent in face of such atrocities. Your silence endorses the crime.

“I warn all groups, parties, societies and organizations that under the vali-e faqih rule, this incident is not restricted to one group or faction.

“All should raise their voice louder against such murders. If you don’t, tomorrow will be your turn. It is everyone’s responsibility to protest the perpetrated crime.”
