NCRI – In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Bishop Pierre Morrissette, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, called for support for the rights of Iranian dissidents living in Camp Ashraf, Iraq.

The text of the letter is as follows:

His Excellency Ban Ki-moon
Secretary General of the United Nations

In December 2009, I wrote to you to express my concerns about Iranian exiles living in Camp Ashraf, Iraq. This year, I once again urge you to use all resources at your disposal to convince the Iraqi government to end restrictions on medical services for patients in Ashraf. According to Amnesty International, hundreds of people in Ashraf require medical aid but do not have access to it.

I thank you and hope for health and prosperity for you in the new year. I hope that next year will bear the message of freedom for those who have been deprived of it.

Bishop Pierre Morrissette, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops,
