Baghdad, DPA – A spokesman for the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), said yesterday that the number of victims of an attack by Iraqi forces last month against Camp Ashraf, where members of the movement are housed in Iraq, reached 11 after another member of the organization died as a result of inflicted wounds.

Mohammad Eghbal, a spokesman, said, “Ali-Asghar Yaghoubpour was a senior member of the PMOI. He died two days ago after three weeks of enduring pain and undergoing surgery. The number of victims of the Iraqi forces’ attack against this camp now stands at 11.”

Eghbal also said, “Camp Ashraf residents are continuing with their hunger strike in protest to the attack by Iraqi forces,” adding that the strike is now on its 20th day.

According to Eghbal, the hunger strikers condemn the raid by Iraqi forces against Camp Ashraf and insist that they will continue with their strike until their demands are met. The demands are: Release of 36 PMOI members who have been detained by Iraqi forces, withdrawal of Iraqi forces from Ashraf and the return of protection to American forces.
