Hamid al-Mutlak said: “We agree with any humane, ethical, and legal initiative. Accordingly, we support Europe’s plan in this regard and invite all parties to negotiations and answering positively to this initiative. Because in Iraq, that is to say, us Iraqis are a people of honor and dignity and we love our guests, and do not accept mistreatment or harassment of anyone. We support people’s dignity and rights, therefore, we are sympathetic to Ashraf residents and their pain and suffering, and cannot accept an attack against them regardless of who is the attacker.”
In response to Suraqia News Agency’s question regarding al-Maliki’s request from the [Defense and Security] Committee to take charge of Camp Ashraf case, Hamid al-Mutlak said: “This is completely void of any truth and al-Maliki has not made such a request. Al-Maliki has only asked the Committee to provide its suggestions and views and cooperate on this issue. Therefore, we agree with the Europe’s initiative and its implementation and disagree with relocation of Camp Ashraf to another location inside Iraq.”
