NCRI – The mayor and elected members of the city council in Taverny north of Paris have condemned the unjust and inhumane restrictions against ill patients at Camp Ashraf, Iraq.
In a statement released this week, the elected officials expressed solidarity with the Iranian Resistance and demanded urgent measures to end the criminal pressures imposed on the camp, where 3,400 Iranian dissidents reside.
The statement, published on the official city website, was entitled “the mayor denounces the Iranian regime’s cruelties.”
“Several elected officials, including mayor Maurice Boscavert, continue to express their solidarity with the Iranian resistance in strongly condemning the Iranian regime and denouncing its cruelties,” the statement read.
The elected officials referred to recent pressures against Camp Ashraf, where 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) reside, and condemned abuses against the residents by the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.
“The inhuman blockade of Camp Ashraf has intensified in recent weeks. Criminal measures restricting access to medical care for residents of the camp have increased.”
“Maliki’s forces prevent hospitalization of Ashraf residents diagnosed with cancer, and are refusing access to care for terminally ill patients and even prevent the delivery of drugs into the camp.”
The elected officials of Taverny underscored the imperative of adopting urgent international measures to lift the unjust and inhumane siege on Ashraf.
