Diyala official condemns attack against Camp Ashraf

NCRI – A member of Diyala’s provincial council in Iraq has condemned Friday’s attacks by Iranian regime agents against Camp Ashraf, where 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) reside, stressing that the United Nations must play a role in protecting the residents.

Ziad Ahmad also said that attacking female residents in Camp Ashraf is condemnable in accordance with ethical and religious standards.

On Friday, Iranian regime agents, with the backing of the Iraqi prime minister’s office, attacked the residents of Camp Ashraf, which is located in Iraq’s province, injuring hundreds of the residents, including dozens of women.

Mr. Ahmad added, “We follow an Islam that wants us to treat other human beings in accordance with Islamic principles and ethics. [Friday’s] treatment [against the residents] is unbecoming of Muslims, does not reflect Iraq’s dignity, and should be rejected.”
