Czech MP demands release of Ashraf Seven and massacre probe

NCRI – A Czech MP has condemned the execution of members of the People’s Mojahedin Oraganization of Iran (PMOI/MEK ) during September 1st massacre at Camp Ashraf as a crime against humanity and demanded the immediate release of the seven hostages taken captive during the atrocity.

Stanislav Polcak described it as ‘disturbing’ that that no action had yet been taken by the West to free the seven before they are deported to face torture and execution Iran.

His experience of his own country’s totalitarian regime which ended more than 20 years ago made him understand the brutality that dictators are capable of, he said.

Mr Polcak told a conference in Paris in support of a free Iran at the weekend: “We remember hundreds of dead, tortured and jailed people. We know the statesman representing a state regime which is suppressing the human rights of hundreds of thousands of its citizens. We are aware of what these are capable of.

“What happened in Camp Ashraf on September 1 is nothing but a crime against humanity which deserves an investigation by a fact finding committee, and certainly not by the Iraqi government which is responsible for it.

“It is disturbing that after almost 50 days after the crime has been committed, no serious steps are being taken towards such investigation. Despite the fact that the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Secretary General and many other international authorities have called for it.

“Is it really hard for the UN and the western governments to release the hostages and show to the Iraqi government and the Iranian regime that such barbaric acts are not tolerated?

“We are shocked from the torture, execution and anti-human treatments. Our demands are for the release of the hostages before it is too late.”

Two other key demands were a guarantee of protection for the residents of Camp liberty and a ‘transparent and independent’ investigation into the Ashraf massacre of 52 Iranian dissidents to bring the perpetrators to justice, Mr Polcak said.

He added: “We respect your attitude and beliefs in democratic change in Iran. We are supporting you, especially the National Council Resistance of Iran and Madame President Maryam Rajavi. We are supporting you with our experience of the totalitarian regime.”
