The TV quoted a source in Camp Ashraf, home to 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), as saying that Friday’s attack came on the heels of a Spanish court ruling on Tuesday which launched a probe into another fatal attack against Ashraf in July 2009.
The January 7 assault against the camp’s residents also occurred after a rushed visit to Baghdad by Ali Akbar Salehi, the Iranian regime’s Foreign Minister. One of the aims of the visit was to discuss ways to counter the effects of the Spanish court ruling.
