Arab dignitaries support committee in defense of Camp Ashraf

On September 5, 2009, in a meeting near Paris attended by Arab and Islamic delegations comprised of lawmakers, legal, political and social personalities, and human rights activists from various Muslim countries, including Algeria, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt, the Arab-Islamic Committee in Defense of Ashraf was launched.

NCRI – A number of dignitaries including leaders of parties and organizations, members of parliaments, and social, political and legal personalities in Iraq and other Arab countries declared their support for the newly established Arab-Islamic Committee in Defense of Ashraf (AICDA).

Dr Saleh Mutlak from the Iraqi national dialog front, and Dr Zafer al-Aani of Iraqi Accord Front, Parliamentary Committee of Friendship with Iranian people, Association of Independent Lawyers in Iraq, Iraqi Committee in defense of Ashraf, and Arab committee in defense of Ashraf are among those supported AICDA by writing separate letters to Mr. Sid Ahmad Ghozali, Chair of AICDA.

Dr. Mutlak and Dr al-Aani, in a joint letter to Mr. Ghozali, said:  “We, a group of members of Iraqi parliament, welcome the valuable steps you have taken in the formation of Arab-Islamic Committee in Defense of Ashraf and would like to express our support for the committee’s goals.”
Mr. Ali Assjari from the Parliamentary Committee of Friendship with Iranian people in Iraq wrote that his committee will do its best to resolve the humanitarian crisis in Ashraf.

Association of Independent lawyer in Iraq that includes 12,000 Iraqi lawyers and jurists said they will not allow the independence of Iraqi judiciary be taken hostage by the influence of Iranian regime and policies of Iraqi government.

Arab council in defense of Ashraf pledged to make all possible efforts to secure the release of 36 Camp Ashraf residents who have been taken hostage by Iraqi forces during the July attack on the Camp.
