NCRI – Al- arab al-Yam (Jordan) in August 14 reported, Threats by the Iranian ambassador in Iraq, Hassan Danaifar, to the effect that those who accuse Iran of meddling in Iraq’s internal affairs will face prosecution have provoked extensive criticisms in Iraq’s political circles.
One of the leaders of the al-Iraqiya list, Ms. Alyeh Nasif Jasem, told al-Arab al-Yom, “Comments by the Iranian ambassador are irresponsible.” She added, “The era for Danaifar’s threats is over, and it only provokes the anger of Iraqi leaders.”
Ezzat al-Shabandar, a member of the State of Law coalition, described the Iranian envoy’s comments as “provocative,” adding that they “create tension.” At a press conference, al-Shabandar said that Danaifar wants to silence those Iraqi politicians who speak of Iranian interference by threatening them with prosecution. He criticized the Iraqi government for not taking a position regarding the envoy’s comments.
Nasij Jasem also criticized Iranian demands for the expulsion of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) from Iraq. She said these statements are unacceptable, especially because they are refugees in Iraq and reside in Camp Ashraf. They also enjoy international support, she added.
She also described Ashraf residents as “guests of the Iraqi people.”
