Iran News: Nationwide Protests Erupt Over Labor Rights and Pension Issues

Today, Tuesday, April 8, various cities across Iran witnessed protests from different segments of the population.

In Lamerd, located in southern Iran, nurses staged a rally protesting against forced overtime work, unpaid wages, and changes to tariff laws.

Similarly, in Kermanshah and Sanandaj, located in western Iran, retirees of the Telecommunications Company of Iran (TCI) took to the streets. They voiced their discontent over the regime’s disregard for its own laws mandating the adjustment of retirees’ pensions according to the cost of living.

Shiraz, another city in southern Iran, also saw nurses protesting similar grievances of forced overtime work, unpaid wages, and changes to tariff laws. This protest came after the head of the Medical Sciences University attempted to diminish the demands of nurses.

In Ardebil, located in western Iran, retired TCI employees held their weekly protest rally, demanding higher pensions and other basic needs. Despite their persistent calls, the regime continues to ignore their demands.

Additionally, nationwide protest rallies were reported in various cities, including Ardabil, Rasht, and Tehran, where retired TCI employees gathered. Similar protests were held by retirees of the telecommunications industry in Arak, Marivan, Urmia, Bandar Abbas, Ahvaz, Sanandaj, Kermanshah, and Isfahan.

The demonstrations reflect growing dissatisfaction among various segments of the population with the regime’s policies and practices, particularly concerning labor rights and pension issues.
