Maryam Rajavi calls for denunciation of IRGC infiltration into Iraqi Kurdistan

NCRI – Yesterday, subsequent to the multiple failures of the clerical regime and its Iraqi proxies in their attempts to change the results of the Iraqi elections,  and simultaneous with the certification of the results by the Iraqi Supreme Court, forces of the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC/Pasdaran) penetrated 5 km into Iraqi soil and occupied parcels of land. The move came on the heels of four consecutive days of bombing and mortar shelling of the Iraqi Kurdistan frontier. According to residents of the region, the IRGC fired indiscriminately and made a large number of local residents homeless and refugee.

One of the objectives of the clerical regime by carrying out such criminal measures, which are considered gross violations of numerous international treaties and UN Security Council resolutions, is to avenge Kurdish groups and political parties for refusing to join the coalition of Iranian regime proxies following the Iraqi elections. The clerical regime is trying to force them to support its political alternative. Simultaneous with the criminal incursion, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the regime’s ambassador to Baghdad, is in Kurdistan.

The President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, called on the UN Security Council, US forces in Iraq, the Arab League, the European Union and other international authorities to decisively condemn the aggression and to adopt urgent measures to prevent the continuation of such aggressions. The international community’s silence and inaction with regards to these measures, which enjoy at least practical support from the Nouri al-Maliki government, will encourage the regime to prolong its acts of aggression and crimes.
