Iran: Rajavi welcomes arrest warrant for Rafsanjani, seven other Tehran regime officials

NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect, welcomed the international arrest warrant by Argentina’s Federal Judge for Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and seven other officials of the mullahs’ regime for their role in the bombing of a Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires in 1994.

She underscored the need to bring the criminal leaders of the religious, terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity.

Judge Rodolfo Canicoba Corral asked Interpol to arrest and hand over to Argentina Hashemi Rafsanjani, the current chairman of the State Expediency Council and former President; Ali Fallahian, current advisor on security issues to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and former Intelligence Minister; Ali Akbar Velayati, senior advisor to Khamenei and former Foreign Minister; Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezai, current State Expediency Council Secretary and former commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards Corps; Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, former commander of the IRGC’s Qods [Jerusalem] Force; Hadi Soleimanpour, former ambassador to Argentina; Mohsen Rabbani, former Cultural Attaché; and Ahmad Reza Asghari, the embassy’s Third Secretary, for “crimes against humanity.”

Mrs. Rajavi expressed hope that the decision represented a tangible indication of an end to impunity for the clerical regime’s officials for their terrorist crimes.

The Iranian Resistance’s President-elect added that the leaders of the clerical regime, including Ali Khamenei, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Judiciary Chief Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, the, IRGC commanders and Intelligence Ministry officials were criminals against humanity for the execution of 120,000 political prisoners and unbridle export of terrorism, which claimed many victims among Iranian dissidents and foreign nationals. The United Nations Security Council must undertake the necessary measures to refer their files to an international tribunal, she said.
