Iran: EU should learn lesson from ‘US spy den’ closure, senior cleric says

NCRI – Mohammad-ali Movahhedi-Kermani – Ali Khamenei’s representative at Tehran Friday prayers – has described latest European Parliament resolution on human rights violations in Iran as a ‘rant’.

Speaking on plans to open an EU Bureau in Iran, he referred to the taking of American diplomats hostage in Tehran in 1979 and said: “The Iranian people will not let a new spy den be established in Iran. Learn a lesson from the fate of the US. spy den.  They should  learn lessons as the American spies were blind folded and handcuffed .”

He added: “It is shameful, and they are being shameless to the highest degree. What strange expectations they have and what a strange accusations they make! Are human rights violated in Iran? For what reason are they violated? They say the election in Iran is not consistent with international standards. They impudently order that Ahmed Shaheed, an anti-Iranian agent who is the mouthpiece of colonialism, should have permission to visit Iran and incite sedition.

“The Europeans say the parliamentary delegation’s visit to Iran must be coupled with permission to allow them to visit seditionists and anti-revolutionaries, what heinous expectations!”  (Tasnim news, April 4, 2014)

Another senior cleric, Makarem Shirazi said on the issue: “The European Union has presented a 20 article plan which we have to be highly alert about.  Although our nuclear issue is not yet resolved, they are creating such a mess.” (State-run  Fars News Agency, April 4, 2014).

And IRGC Brigadier General Naghdi, commander of Basij forces, described the European Union as ‘lower than beasts’.  He said: “They say in the resolution that you have no right to carry out executions, and they say they want to come to Iran to open a bureau, It is none of your business to open up a bureau in Iran.” (State-run Tabnak website, April 3, 2014).

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, head of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said: “If the European Union believes it can regulate its relations with Iran with this kind of conduct, they should know that they are on a deviant path that undoubtedly will not get them anywhere.”

Hossein Tala, another member of the parliament, said: “These Europeans who claim to be defenders of human rights must explain before the Iranian nation why and how they came to remove the PMOI (MEK) from the list of terrorist organizations.” (The regime’s parliament news agency- April 4, 2014).

The hysterical reaction of the clerical regime to the European Parliament’s resolution on the human rights violations in Iran clearly indicates that torture, execution and the brutal and systematic violation of human rights are rife in Iran, and any flexibility and retreat on that issue will drastically accelerate the process of overthrowing this medieval regime.
