Baghdad bombings and Iranian regime’s plot to obstruct formation of an Iraqi nationalist government

NCRI – The Iranian Resistance strongly condemns Baghdad bombings on Sunday and the death of a large number of innocent civilians. While expressing condolences to the bereaved families and wishing rapid recovery for the wounded, it calls for an international probe into these horrendous crimes in order to indentify the perpetrators and those responsible for them.

These bombings are part of the Iranian regime’s terrorist plot to make up for its loss in the Iraqi parliamentary elections, neutralize the victory of the nationalist and democratic forces and to expand its ominous and disgraceful domination over Iraq. The clerical regime plans to obstruct the Iraqi people’s resolve to form a nationalist and non-sectarian government in their country and therefore prevent its eviction from that country.

Prior to the Iraqi elections in March, the clerical regime intensified its terrorist and criminal operations within Iraq in a bid to prevent certain failure of its agents and proxies in the elections.

As it was mentioned in our March 6 statement, the plan was instructed by the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and its Supreme National Security Council to the terrorist Quds Force and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

In a statement on December 8, 2009, the NCRI exposed the perpetrators of the bombings in Iraq and said that according to credible documents and intelligence from within the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corps and the terrorist Quds Force, the regime is the main culprit in Iraq’s bombings, but, the Nouri al-Maliki’s government is trying to cover up the role of the regime and divert attentions from the main source of terrorism and insecurity in Iraq. The statement added that Baghdad’s security and the relevant organs are directly administered by al-Maliki and the Interior and Defense ministers are not involved at all.

Speaking to Al-Sharqiya TV yesterday, April 4, former Iraqi Interior Minister, Falah Naqib, said: “There is no doubt that such incidents could be averted. Bombings in Baghdad during the recent months have a similar pattern and it can be concluded that there is a specific party behind these bombings. Due to political interferences and meddling of political parties in security files and the security organs, there is a kind of chaos in Iraq’s security. Recently, there have been a lot of political interferences in Iraq’s security in general and these have undermined the security and the ability of security forces to provide security inside Iraq.” The same TV network quoted eyewitnesses saying: “All three bombings were carried out by car bombs parked near three targets and there is no sign to prove that suicide bombers had carried out the attacks.”
