Iran: increased suppression under the pretext of “public security”

NCRI – On July 23, head of the State Security Forces (SSF) in greater Tehran, Brig. Gen. Ahmad Reza Radan announced the “new phase of public security.”
“This plan [referring to public security] will be in effect as long as the “mal-veiling” has not come under control,” said Radan.

The NCRI’s Women Committee Chair, Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz said, “The mullahs’ regime under the pretext of ‘mal-veiling’ is desperately trying to suppress popular uprisings by women and youths.”

She called on all international human rights organizations and women’s right groups to adopt urgent measures to stop the suppression of Iranian women and youths.
