Regime Parliament Adopts the “First Urgency” of the Plan for 20 Percent Enrichment and Increase in Uranium Stockpile

Iran regime says it has capacity to raise uranium enrichment beyond 20%

NCRI-50Yesterday, the regime’s Majlis (Parliament) adopted the “First Urgency” of a plan dubbed as “Strategic Plan of Action to End the Sanctions,” according to which the regime will stockpile at least 120 kg of 20% enriched uranium at the Fordow facility, will operate 1,000 IR-2M and 1,000 IR6 centrifuges, and return the 40 Megawatt Heavy Water Reactor to its pre-JCPOA stage. And if the level of European oil purchase from Iran as well as banking ties do not return to a normal and satisfactory condition, it would halt the voluntary implementation of the additional protocol.

The “First Urgency” of the plan which was tabled in the Parliament on a directive by the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and with the agreement of Hassan Rouhani and Javad Zarif, was adopted with 196 affirmative votes (of all the regime factions) and only six negative votes.

In the past few months, the clerical regime has violated major provisions of the Iran nuclear deal, including the percentage and volume of enriched uranium, the number of advanced centrifuges, the non-feeding of gas into centrifuge machine, enrichment of Fordow, and the restrictions placed on Arak site.

The tabling of the “First Urgency” of this plan, the violation of major provisions of the JCPOA and the regime’s conduct five years after the Iran nuclear deal leave no doubt that the mullahs’ regime will never abandon the project to obtain nuclear weapons. It is time to respond to the mullahs’ brazen actions with a comprehensive and decisive policy, including the full implementation of the six United Nations Security Council resolutions. The nuclear activities of the mullahs’ regime are to the detriment of the Iranian people’s interests and part of its strategy to survive.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said after the signing of the Iran nuclear deal on July 14, 2015, “Circumventing the six Security Council Resolutions do not prevent the mullahs’ deception and do not block their path to a nuclear bomb.”
