New IAEA report: Iranian regime has accelerated its project to acquire nuclear weapon; the need for imposition of comprehensive sanctions doubly imperative

NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, stated that the IAEA report demonstrates that the clerical regime has sped up and intensified its efforts to produce nuclear weapons and this doubles the necessity of adopting a resolute stance and the imposition of comprehensive sanctions against the Iranian regime.

The report expresses its mounting concern regarding “the possible existence in Iran of past or current undisclosed nuclear related activities, involving military related organizations, including activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile” and calls on Iran to fully cooperate with IAEA inspectors.

Steep increase in the production of uranium enriched to 19.75% with 70 kilograms of this level of enriched uranium in store, putting into use two advanced types of centrifuges (IR-4 and IR-2m models) in the pilot section of Natanz nuclear site, installing a cascade of IR-1 model centrifuges in Fordow site, having in store 4,500 kilograms of low-enriched uranium (LEU) [that if enriched further would be enough for four nuclear bombs], continuous violation of Security Council and the Board of Governors resolutions are among issues covered in this report.

Mrs. Rajavi stated: “It is now over two decades that the Iranian Resistance has been disclosing the ominous plans of the Iranian regime to produce nuclear weapons and has warned about the catastrophic dimensions of such an outcome. However, instead of imposition of sanctions and firmness, the international community has offered this medieval regime both time and necessary resources to complete its nuclear projects by negotiating with this regime and offering it incentives.”

She added that the mullahs, who are frightened that their regional front is collapsing due to uprisings in the region and are also afraid of growing popular uprising in Iran, find themselves more than ever in need of nuclear bomb to guarantee their being in power.

In order to expedite its nuclear projects, the Iranian regime has gathered all its nuclear experts since six months ago in an institution by the name of New Defense Researches Organization (Sepand) headed by Fakhri-Zadeh. It has also placed all such activities under the IRGC control by assigning Freidoun Abbassi as the head of regime’s Atomic Energy Organization.
