Yesterday, the Iranian regime’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, announced that the clerical regime had operated the first cascade of centrifuges, injecting gas in them and producing enriched uranium. Rafsanjani also claimed that the regime can enrich uranium on an industrial scale and emphasized, "We must expand these machines to acquire a complete industrial unit… When ElBaradei comes to Iran, he will face a new situation."

Ahmadinejad also claimed that the regime had joined the nuclear club and that "from now on, the situation will turn into Iran’s favor." He stressed that the regime would not back down from uranium enrichment and would pay no attention to the propaganda and threats by the international community.

Subsequent to these remarks, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect, warned against further hesitation and delay in adopting a firm policy and imposing comprehensive sanctions against the mullahs’ regime. She reiterated that with every passing day, the world draws closer to the catastrophe of the most active state sponsor of international terrorism obtaining nuclear weapons. Three years of negotiations with and appeasement of the ruling theocracy gave the mullahs the opportunity to acquire the needed time to advance and complete their nuclear weapons program, she said.

Mrs. Rajavi added that the clerical regime will never abandon nuclear weapons because it considers them to be a strategic guarantee for its survival. Therefore, the definitive response to the mullahs’ nuclear threat is regime change and the establishment of democracy in Iran. By virtue of its vast popular base, the Iranian Resistance is capable of realizing this change, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect said.
