Maryam Rajavi warned against the mullahs’ policy of buying time to obtain nuclear weapons

NCRI – President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, warned the IAEA on its agreement with the Iranian regime over “A new time table to end the international concerns.”

She added that for past quarter of a century, the ruling mullahs have repeatedly used a ridiculous tactic aimed at buying time to postpone the anticipated international sanctions against it.

Mrs. Rajavi called on the UN Security Council to adopt immediately a new resolution imposing sanctions on the regime.

She said that preventing the Iranian regime from obtaining nuclear weapons is only possible by adopting a firm policy through putting aside the appeasement of the regime in its totality. Such a new policy on one hand should include imposition of comprehensive weapons, diplomatic, technological, and oil sanctions on the clerical regime and on the other hand removing all obstacles in the way of change in Iran; in particular removing the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) from the list of terrorist organizations; a label which has no use but to embolden the regime in imposing more suppression on Iranian people and expand fundamentalism and terrorism abroad. The European Communities Court of First Instance ruled to remove the terrorist label from the PMOI on December 12, 2006.

Simultaneous with the regime’s new deceptive tactic with the IAEA, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s adviser, Brig. Gen. Sadeq Mahsoli said, “Despite the efforts by the major powers, the Islamic Republic of Iran has stood up to gain its nuclear rights…,” the official news agency IRNA reported on August 21.
