On the eve of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), called on US and European leaders to take immediate action to refer the mullahs’ nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council.

She said that three weeks ago, Kamal Kharrazi, advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and head of the regime’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, for the first time spoke about “changing the ‘nuclear doctrine’” which would include building a nuclear bomb. Kharrazi also stressed that the regime possesses the “capacity to produce nuclear weapons. Under the pretext of a potential Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, He said, “It is possible and conceivable to revise Iran’s nuclear doctrine and policies, moving away from previously announced considerations.”

Speaking on behalf of the Iranian people’s Resistance for peace and freedom, Mrs. Rajavi again emphasized the urgency for the international community to activate the trigger clause in Resolution 2231 and related UN Security Council resolutions concerning Iran’s nuclear projects. She cautioned against delaying action that could enable the regime to evade accountability by the Board of Governors and the Security Council.

The NCRI President-elect stated that it is critically important to classify the regime under Chapter VII of the UN Charter and to officially designate the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.
