Iranian Resistance urges immediate referral of mullahs’ nuclear file to UN Security Council

El-Baradei, Director General, IAEANCRI, September 24 – The National Council of Resistance of Iran welcomes the adoption of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s resolutions and calls for immediate referral of Iran’s nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council. The resolution underscores, "History of concealment of Iran’s nuclear activities have given rise to questions that are within the competence of the Security Council, as the organ bearing the main responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security."

Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the NCRI, welcomed the adoption of the EU’s resolution, which emphasized the Iranian regime’s noncompliance concerning its obligations in the framework of nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

He said the clerical regime must be referred immediately to the UN Security Council for the adoption of sanctions, including a comprehensive oil and technological embargo.

"As the EU-3 foreign ministers and the Union’s foreign policy chief wrote recently, Tehran should have been referred to the Security Council three years ago, after the revelations on two secret nuclear sites in Natanz and Arak," Mohaddessin added.

In the past two months, the NCRI has made 15 revelations, confirming the continuation of the clerical regime’s all-out and secret efforts to acquire nuclear weapons. This demonstrates that any delay in referral would allow the world’s sole terror sponsor regime to get closer to obtaining the bomb and endanger regional and international peace and security.

Mohaddessin added, "Not only should international sanctions be imposed on the clerical regime for its clandestine and relentless efforts to obtain nuclear weapons, but the mullahs’ must also be referred to the Security Council so that binding decisions are taken because of their flagrant and persistent human rights violations, especially the massacre of political prisoners, export of terrorism and fundamentalism and efforts to install a puppet regime in Iraq.
