Iran regime tested missile with 2,500 km range, capable of carrying nuclear warhead

File PhotoNCRI – Iranian regime test fired a missile with the range of about 2,500 km on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Revolutionary Guard Ahmad Vahidi, the regime’s Minister of Defense, described the new Sejil 2 missile as the upgraded version of previous one that would serve as a “strong deterrent” against any possible foreign attack.

"Given its high speed, it is impossible to destroy the missile with anti-missile systems because of its radar-evading ability,” Vahidi told state-run TV.

The People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) from inside of Iran, had previously unveiled that the Sejil 2 missiles, built by the regime’s Defense Industry, is capable of carrying nuclear warhead and is part of the clerical regime's drive to obtain nuclear weapons. This is a two-staged missile; enabling it to have a longer range. It is a solid fuel missile that constitutes a new technology in the mullahs' ballistic missiles.

The missiles are manufactured by the Aerospace Industry Group of the Iranian regime’s Defense Ministry that has been greatly strengthened under mullahs’ president Ahmadinejad. The production site is located in Khojir, east of Tehran. The two-stage solid fueled missiles are manufactured by Bakeri Industry Group while the liquid fueled missiles such as Shahab-3 and Ghadr-110 are made by Hemmat Aerospace Industry Group.

The Bakeri Industry Group is headed by Mehrdad Akhlaghi Ketabchi, and the commander of Hemat Industrial Group is the Revolutionary Guard Naser Maleki.

The names of both individuals and the industry groups are listed in the United Nations Security Council resolution 1747 and the U.S. sanctions list.

For many years, the regime in the absence of a decisive policy by the international community has advanced its projects to proliferate nuclear weapons and expand its missile arsenal without being hindered. The Iranian Resistance warns against imminent and serious threats posed by mullahs’ regime against security and stability in the region and throughout the world. It also calls on the United Nations Security Council to adopt immediate arms, technological, diplomatic and oil sanctions on the regime.
