Iran: Maryam Rajavi calls for comprehensive sanctions

The Iranian regime’s propaganda on nuclear project is aimed at domestic consumption in the run-up to elections
NCRI – Prior to the upcoming meeting of the 5+1 countries, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, called for immediate adoption of comprehensive arms, technological, diplomatic and oil sanctions to prevent the mullahs’ regime to acquire nuclear bomb.

She congratulated the Iranian people for the devastating blow inflicted on the religious fascism against its nuclear activities by the Resistance and declared that the inhuman and anti-Iranian regime which was trying to obtain nuclear bomb in order to guarantee its survival is entrapped once again by the Resistance’s incredible revelations.

The remarks by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other officials of the regime who were trying to portray the IAEA’s report — in an orchestrated move — a victory for the regime and a testimony to its innocence in the illegal activities was described as being only for domestic consumption by Mrs. Rajavi.

She added that in the run-up to the Majlis (Parliament) elections, the entire clerical regime and in particular Khamenei and Ahmadinejad’s faction are desperately trying to cover up the increasing domestic crisis on one hand and their growing international isolation on the other. They are also struggling to strengthen their position in the regime’s factional feuding.

The hollow propaganda is put on by the regime while the article 54 of the IAEA’s report reiterates that "one major remaining issue relevant to the nature of the regime’s nuclear program is the studies on the green salt project, high explosives testing and the missile re-entry vehicle." The IAEA also requires "an understanding of the role of the uranium metal document, and clarifications concerning the procurement activities of some military related institutions still not provided." Therefore the agency vehemently demands the Iranian regime to provide more clarifications.

In article 56, it is declared that contrary to the Security Council resolutions, the regime has not suspended its uranium enrichment activities, and has continued the construction of the IR-40 reactor and operation of the Heavy Water Production Plant.

In article 57, the IAEA concluded that confidence in the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program requires that the Agency be able to provide assurances not only regarding declared nuclear material, but, equally importantly, regarding the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran.

In response to a question in a TV interview on Saturday night asking Ahmadinejad if there were any untold story on the regime’s nuclear dossier, he said, "The nuclear issue in its new form began in the beginning of the summer of 2002, when the MKO [term used by the regime for the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI)] published a report on (Iran’s) Natanz and… (nuclear facilities). In autumn of 2003, following the MKO report, a number of European foreign ministers came to Tehran proposing a plan which was approved by both sides to settle the Iranian nuclear issue. This happened at a time a resolution against Iran had already been adopted by the IAEA’s Board of Governors."

Mrs. Rajavi expressed her appreciation to members and sympathizers of the Iranian Resistance as well as all freedom-loving compatriots who helped to unveil the Iranian regime’s nuclear projects.

She added that the mullahs’ regime had brought nothing but suppression and poverty to the Iranian people. All its projects including the nuclear one and export of fundamentalism and terrorism had cost Iranians billions of dollars, Mrs. Rajavi said, emphasizing that such adventures were against the Iranian people’s highest national interests.
