Clerical regime’s public missile tests and show of force

Mullahs’ fear of balance shift in the region and fall of regime

NCRI – In recent days, the mullahs’ regime is conducting a series of public missile tests and maneuvers. The maneuvers, that according to regime’s officials will take 10 days, are taking place at a time when regime’s internal crisis and infighting has escalated to Khamenei and Ahmadinejad and the international and regional balance, especially as a result of Syrian people’s uprising, has shifted against the regime in an unprecedented fashion.

Fearing destruction of their regional alliance and spreading of Iranian people’s uprisings, religious rulers of Iran are holding these maneuvers in an attempt to lift the morale of their feeble forces and Revolutionary Guards and to prevent the disintegration of their mercenary forces in the region, especially in Iraq and Lebanon. The regime is also deeply concerned that these developments would render plotting against its organized opposition and killing and suppressing them in Ashraf more difficult.

While IRGC Major General Hajizadeh, commander of regime’s missile forces, brazenly described the goal of the maneuvers as sending a “message of peace and friendship to the countries in the region,” Hossein Salami, Deputy General Commandant of IRGC threatened the countries in the region and said that these maneuvers must be considered as warnings against presence of the U.S. naval forces and some other countries in the Persian Gulf region.

The regime attempts to give the illusion that the technology used in the maneuvers are its own military achievements and pretend to be one of a few countries with such advanced technologies, while the tested missiles, Shahab-1, Shahab-2 and Zelzal, are indeed modified Soviet-made Scud missiles.

IRGC’s Hajizadeh deceivingly said: “Our missiles’ range is up to 2,000 kilometers; this does not mean that we do not have the technology to produce missile with a longer range, we simply don’t need a range longer than 2,000 kilometers… Israel is not farther than 1,200 kilometers and we can target that state. And the U.S. has made it easy for us, because its bases around us are located within 130, 200, 250 and at most 700 to 800 kilometers from our country and with these missiles of ours, we can aim at all of American targets in the region.”
