Vengeance against the PMOI for rejection of Iranian regime by 3 million Iraqi Shiites

The clerical regime's media announced today that Mr. Ali Dabaq, as the spokesman of the Iraqi government, has repeated his previous claim to expel the residents of Ashraf City, members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), from Iraq.

This is a clear reflection of hysterical pressures on the Iraqi government by the religious fascism ruling Iran and its embassy in Baghdad aimed to avenge the PMOI because of the rejection of the Iranian regime by three million Iraqi Shiites.

The following is a statement by the People's Mojahedin organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) released on June 17, 2008.

Various Arab and international media have in recent days reported that three million Iraqi Shiites have condemned the clerical regime ruling Iran for its meddling in their country and had called for the regime's eviction and closure of its embassy and representative offices in Iraq.

The position announced by Dabaq against the PMOI is a clear violation of international laws and conventions in particular the principle of nonrefoulment, the common article three of the Geneva conventions and the International Humanitarian Law. It also violates brazenly the positions declared by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), UNAMI, the UN Security Council and the European Parliament.

In addition, the regime on a number of occasions in the past has emphasized the need to massacre all members of the PMOI through its various mouthpieces in Iraq.

Dabaq keeps silent when members of the PMOI are kidnapped in Iraq, when innocent Iraqis are assassinated for having contacts with the PMOI, when Ashraf City's water pumping station is blown up by the Qods Force of the Iranian regime's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) or when residents of Ashraf City are attacked by the regime's missiles. But when the Iraqi Shiites issue a statement against the Iranian regime's meddling and crimes in Iraq as declared by leaders of the country or the US officials and call for an end to their interferences in Iraq and expulsion of the agents of the IRGC and the Qods Force from Iraqi institutions, Mr. Dabaq suddenly calls for expulsion of the PMOI. He unilaterally declares any contacts with the PMOI as a crime and calls on the Multi-National Force to hand over the PMOI and whatever related to its members to the Iraqi authorities while the competent international bodies keep reminding the Iraqi officials of their obligations under the principle of nonrefoulment dealing with transfer of individuals to any other country or authority.

The UNHCR and the ICRC have made it clear that the residents of Camp Ashraf should not be deported, expelled or extradited to their home country in violation of the principle of nonrefoulment, or displaced within Iraq in violation of International Humanitarian Law.

The PMOI warns against a human catastrophe and the repeat of terrorist or missile attacks by the clerical regime against the PMOI as Dabaq's statements clearly serves to prepare the grounds for them.

The PMOI calls on the UN Security Council, competent international bodies, the Multi-National Force and in particular the Prime Minister Mouri Al-Maliki, to intervene immediately and condemn these kinds of remarks and remove all restrictions against Ashraf residents which are only desired by the terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran.

The declaration which was announced at the fourth annual session of the Solidarity Congress of the Iraqi People described the move as the strategic counterbalance vis-à-vis the Iranian regime's meddling in Iraq.
Representatives of a number of Iraqi political parties and dignitaries expressed their support for the statement in the event and praised the work done to achieve such a great consensus in Iraq under present circumstance.
