Political prisoner tortured to death due to deliberate denial of medical treatment

NCRI – Mohsen Dokmechi, 53, a supporter of the PMOI and a political prisoner, passed away in prison due to deliberate denial of medical treatment by the mullahs’ regime after nine months of imprisonment and torture.

He had served several year prison in 80s and was one of the famous and reputable merchants of Tehran Bazaar. Mohsen Dokmechi was arrested again and was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment and exile in August 2009 on the charge of helping the families of political prisoners and because his daughter Narges Dokmechi lived in Camp Ashraf.

Last year after being diagnosed with cancer, the mullahs’ regime prevented his treatment for months. Finally after several months of delay, they hospitalized him last December while his hands and feet were enchained and three armed agents from the mullahs’ intelligence service guarded him in the hospital.

Following a major surgery, his specialist doctors mentioned in a letter to Jafari Dowlatabadi, the regime’s prosecutor, that the patient needed chemotherapy and special medical care because of long delay in his surgery. However, the regime neglected the doctors’ recommendations and took him back to prison right after his surgery.
Despite his severe pains and physicians’ recommendations, the regime’s agents held Mohsen Dokmechi in ward 4 of Gohardasht prison under intolerable conditions. In order to torture him to death, they did not permit him to be transferred to the hospital and go under chemotherapy and special treatment. They did not even give him painkillers.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian resistance, offered her condolences for the martyrdom of Mohsen Dokmechi to the Iranian people, Dokemechi family, and especially to his daughter. She added: Like hero patients in Ashraf who resist in the face of medical restrictions, he became a symbol of unyielding will for freedom and overthrow of religious fascism.

She called on the UN Secretary General, UN High Commissioner for Human, and all human rights advocates to condemn deliberate medical depriving in the prisons and torture centers of Khamenei which is a clear example of ‘crime against humanity’. She asked for immediate measures to save the lives of political prisoners, especially ill prisoners, and to refer the human rights violation dossier of the mullahs’ regime to the UN Security Council.
