Maryam Rajavi: US government must respect the rule of law and justice, remove PMOI from terror listTime has come for the West to respect the will of the Iranian people to overthrow the clerical dictatorship

NCRI – In a gathering in Auvers- sur-Oise, the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, this evening, following the ruling of the Washington DC Appeals Court against the terror label on the the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance said that the time has come for the US government to respect the rule of law and justice and should acknowledge the removal of the PMOI from the terror list. She stipulated that the time has come that the West to respect the will of the Iranian people to overthrow the clerical rule.

Dozens of French and European dignitaries and a large number of Iranians took part in this event. Iranians, in addition to carrying Iranian flags with lion and sun insignia, carried lilac banners and posters. Many of them had put on t-shirts of the same color.

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia on Friday, in a ruling against the terror label on the PMOI remanded the file for the review of the Secretary of State. The Court of Appeals stipulated that refusing to remove the PMOI from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) lacked sufficient evidence and violated the due process. The court expressed doubts on the evidence provided to the court by the Secretary of State.

In her remarks that were repeatedly interrupted by the cheers of the crowd, Mrs. Rajavi while elaborating how the clerical regime exploited the terror label for suppressing and restricting the resistance, underscored that "our concern goes beyond the interest of a movement or an organization, our concern is the Iranian people’s freedom and sovereignty and enchaining of the main force in the resistance for freedom with a label that pleases the mullahs."

Maryam Rajavi: US government must respect the rule of law and justice, remove PMOI from terror listShe reminded that from the onset this label was levied against the resistance in the hope of reforming the regime. In return it resulted in domination of the most aggressive and brutal faction within the clerical rule.

"Throughout last year, the Iranian youths in street demonstrations, asked Mr. Obama to clarify which side the US government is on?  Does he side with the Iranian people or the mullahs?  I was glad to hear Mr. Obama repeatedly during the past few months stating clearly that he is with the people of Iran.  Now with regards to the terror tag on the organized and just resistance of the same people, the time has come for the most serious and clear test."

While elaborating on the correct policy on dealing with Iranian crisis, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance said: "Sanctions against this regime are necessary and very important, but not enough. A regime change materializes in the resistance of a nation. International peace and security can only be guaranteed when ruling religious fascism is gone. So barriers to change must be removed.  The chains tying the hands of the organized resistance of the people must be removed."

While referring to just and legitimate demand by 24 parliaments and senates and some 4,000 elected representatives from the US, Europe, Arab countries, Canada and Australia representing over one billion people in the world, Mrs. Rajavi reiterated: "The true test is here, to show the Iranian people that between them and their enemy, you are not on the side of the mullahs and the clerical dictatorship. Implement complete arms, oil, and diplomatic embargo on this regime. Recognize the rights of residents of Ashraf according to the Fourth Geneva convention. Guarantee their protection."
